In 1968, on his 45th birthday, Roberto De Vicenzo shot the round of his life at the Masters, good enough for a playoff. His playing partner wrote down the wrong score on one hole. De Vicenzo signed the card without catching it. The rules said the signed card was the truth now, whether or not it matched what happened. He lost the green jacket over a number he never shot.
His only comment: "What a stupid I am."
